First Comics was an Illinois-based comic book publisher that was active from 1983 to 1991. Among the titles they published were Grimjack and the first trade collections of Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As they were not subject to the Comics Code, it was enticing for creator-owned comics to be published under their banner without fear of censorship.
