Known only as Fire-guys or Fire creatures, these are a race of amoeba or germ-like beings which haunt the forests of Santa Baloona and are the titular "Green Fire" in Land of Green Fire. A bunch of them came across a team of archeologists. They ate essentially every living thing except for plants, and became like pets to the archeologists... but when the Fire-guys ran out of things to eat, they ate the archaeologists, including one Layton Sykes. After a few days, the creature that ate Sykes "digested" Sykes' personality and became one with him.
Later, the Ninja Turtles and Colonel Blade came to Santa Baloona to help an archeologist named Daub, who was supposed to meet with the other archeologists, find out what happened to them. Michaelangelo dreamed of a green fire man, freaking out, and finding himself even more scared when something, while not identical to the thing in his dream, but of similar description, turned out to be real. Blade and the Turtles tried to stop it, but it could not be harmed to their knowledge, until Donatello pointed out that there seemed to be a heart in the center of its chest. Blade shot this "heart" and it exploded.
Later, Raphael spotted another Fire-guy and tried to capture it, but it slipped free. While trying to find it again, he ran into a heavily armed Mr. Furious and The Zeke. Fortunately, Flaming Carrot came out of the bushes and recognized Raph before they could fire.
As it turns out, Flaming Carrot and the other Mystery Men were actually in the country for the same reason as the Turtles and Colonel Blade, and so they decided to team up. Mr. Furious concocted a plan to draw out the Fire-guys and ambush them. He had Donatello gather up a bunch of green flares, and then he set them ablaze with a flamethrower, causing a massive green bonfire. The trick worked, drawing thousands of the Fire-guys to them.
The crew set on attacking the Fire-guys, but when Michelangelo tried to burn one with the flamethrower, it just grew massively in size. Fortunately, its weakness was still intact, and Mr. Furious was able to kill it with a single shot. The group took out bunches of them, but they just kept coming. Star Shark and The Shovelor became overrun with them, and their energy was drained to the point where they fell asleep. Eventually, Bondo-Man found that they were weak to water (and lemonade, as Flaming Carrot learned), and so they were able to make quick work of them and finish them off.
Back at the camp, Donatello came across one of the Fire-guys sleeping in a tent and had the others come see. He proclaimed that they should 'blast him', but the Fire-guy, to their surprise, protested. The Fire-guy, the former Layton Sykes, told his tale. Meanwhile, Professor Daub, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Colonel Blade investigated the ruins of the nearby Botaquaxal, and they found hundreds of eggs full of the Fire-guys. At the same time, Flaming Carrot, The Zeke, The Shovelor, and Mr. Furious also investigated the ruins, and woke up a hibernating wolfman.
The wolfman fought with Mr. Furious, but ran off when he saw the hero's Freemason ring, which he also had. The two investigation groups met up and tracked the wolfman down, trying to communicate them with dance, failing to get through. Donatello, Leonardo, and Screwball arrived with Sykes, and it turned out that the wolfman spoke the native language of the Fire Creatures. After talking for a short while, the wolfman picked up Sykes and ate him, then stumbled off and collapsed in a heap with green bubbles flowing out of his mouth. When he appeared again, he spoke English, and explained his name was Chontre Mac, and that by eating Sykes, he absorbed Sykes' spirit just as the Fire-guy did when it ate Sykes.
