Empyrean

In Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Empyrean is the term for a liquid mutagenic substance that pours from the right eye of the Crying Titan. It was brought to Earth by the Krang. Empyrean is also the final ingredient for Baron Draxum's Mutagen.

Description

Empyrean is a neon green liquid compound that is described as being ancient and exceedingly rare. A Krang spaceship crashed into the back of the Crying Titan, resulting in the ship's fuel spilling, which is where Empyrean originates. It possesses great mystic power, and is the derivation of the mystic powers belonging to the Yōkai, and is a substance that the Hidden City utilizes. Empyrean is highly valuable, and as such, is very tightly controlled by the Council of Heads. Its immense potency is required to execute difficult rituals, such as extracting a being's life force.

History

Long ago, Empyrean was responsible for originally mutating the Yōkai people, and is the source from which all mystic power originally stems. In the season 2 finale "Rise", it was revealed that Empyrean flows from a chamber in The Crying Titan that also contains the corpse of a long-deceased Krang.

The Yōkai alchemist Baron Draxum used Empyrean as the final ingredient in his Mutagen though in "Mystic Mayhem", Council of Heads operative Agent 64 tried to confiscate his vial of Empyrean.

In "Finale Part 4: Rise", the Shredder stole Empyrean from the Crying Titan in order to perform a ritual to strip Splinter of his Hamato essence.
