The East Village is a real-life neighborhood on the East Side of the New York City borough of Manhattan.
In the IDW continuity, a fictionalized version of nearly the entire neighborhood was declared part of a quarantine zone in the wake of mutagen bomb secretly created by Old Hob and Man Ray. This entire zone was walled off, and the neighborhoods within collectively became known as Mutant Town, populated entirely by mutagen bomb victims. In "Monsters, part 3," Madame Null mentioned that Hob had "turned the East Village into a zoo."
