Plot synopsis[]

Donatello unveils a new pizza-slicing machine for his brothers, but it rather predictably goes awry, destroying the pizzas and some of the furniture. As the others head up to eat aboveground, Donatello stays behind to clean up the mess he made. He bemoans to Splinter that lately his inventions have all been failing.

He also sees Vernon's news report on a new turtle sanctuary, which pleases him until Vernon makes disparaging comments about "dirty, smelly" turtles on live TV. Enraged, Donatello decides to go down to Channel 6 News to give Vernon a piece of his mind, but is interrupted by a breaking news report from April of an alien invader who resembles a large vicious turtle.

He investigates the landed UFO, and discovered it is the space scow that Slash, the evil turtle from Dimension X, was last seen on. However, Slash has changed dramatically - he is now intelligent (sporting a British accent) and stealing complicated technology. He's also as strong as ever, which puts Donatello at a distinct disadvantage. After stating that he plans to be the supreme turtle in this town, Slash drops dozens of girders on Donatello and leaves him for dead, declaring that now he needs to work on his Trans-Frequency Flux-Oscillator. He heads to Channel 6 to take the broadcasting antenna on the roof.

Leonardo contacts Donatello, who has fortunately survived the girders falling on him. Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo rescue him, but are amused by the idea that Slash is now brilliant. They manage to make their way into the building despite an impenetrable forcefield.

They attempt to take on Slash, but he is able to thwart them with a weapon of his own design. Raphael demands to know how he got so smart, and Slash relates that while he was drifting through space he happened to crash land on an alien world inhabited by a race of hyper-intelligent beings. They took pity on his sub-par IQ and increased his intelligence beyond the wildest dream of mere mortals. With his newfound intellect, he decided to come to Earth and "turtleize" the entire planet using his Animalizer ray. He would, of course, be the supreme turtle. To demonstrate his device, he turns Vernon and Burne into Turtles.

To keep the Turtles from stopping him, Slash blasts them with a freeze ray and heads for the rooftop. April finds them and manages to thaw them out with a hair dryer. The Turtles rush up to the rooftop just as Slash blasts away with the animalized ray, and follow him to a higher rooftop where they engage him in combat. Donatello appears with his pizza slicer and unleashes it on the robots Slash is controlling, and then tricks Slash into turning Vernon and Burne back to normal.

After Leonardo destroys the Animalizer, Slash tackles the Turtles off a rooftop and plummets to the street below. When the Turtles wake him, he's lost his formidable intelligence, and they usher him back to his spaceship.

That evening, Michelangelo expresses disappointment that nothing blew up in their final conflict with Slash. Donatello unveils an automatic cheese grater, which promptly explodes.

Notes and errors[]

  • When Slash loses his intelligence, he appears to become even less intelligent than he was in "Slash: The Evil Turtle from Dimension X", which portrayed Slash as having a normal level intellect.
  • Slash appears to make his way back to Earth with no dimensional portal.
  • Clips from this episode were highlighted in the episode of VH1's I Love the 80's about the year 1988, even though the episode did not air until 1992.
