Daniel Christian is the emperor of The Empire of Humanity, a patch of land he snatched for himself while leading a renegade military unit. Upon finding a working fission reactor, he seized it and the peaceful scientific community which housed it by force.
Although he very loudly proclaims his hate for mutants, especially mutant animals, he is secretly a mutant himself; he is able to transform into a living stone form, and his aging has been significantly slowed—he is 96 years old, but looks about 40.
