Synopsis[]
Michelangelo gathers most of the crew together in the Church living room to dispense the intel he and Mona had gathered about the Mutant Town attacker. Based on eyewitness reports of the "glowing green alligator", they have surmised that Leatherhead is hanging out at a storm drain at the 34th Street Viaduct, near the wall demolition site. Just as Leo begins making a plan and intends to get Raph and Jenny, she arrives with Angel, Zanna, and Zink, banged up and having re-injured her leg. Leo orders her to stay put and recuperate while they head out. Mike suggests they leave Carmen and Bob behind too, as they're probably not ready to fight monsters yet. Leo agrees, saying that Bob is still too new, and his own judgment on leading Carmen in a too-dangerous situation last time got her injured.
At the Claw Clan Water tower, Raph watches over a heavily injured Alopex. She expresses her hubris in attempting to just take the weasels on her own and run them as her own clan. Raph apologizes for working with Oroku Saki during The Armageddon Game without giving any consideration into how Al felt about it. She asks why he's not off with the others looking for Mushroon, and Raph tells her that she is his priority at the moment.
At Barlow's makeshift lab, he declares Mushroom's operation a success. Leatherhead asks when it will be time to regress him to his natural state, and Barlow tells him to be patient, as Leatherhead, Mushroom, the Night Terrors, and all of the other subjects were just stepping stones to his own restoration. Leatherhead gets angry at his benefactor for having him kill for him for his own vanity instead of fast-tracking his side of the deal. Barlow interrupts him before he can make a move, instructing him to go meet their incoming visitors.
In the tunnels, the group splits into three when met with a branching path; Leo goes with Zanna, Zink, and Angel, Don is accompanied by Koya and Bludgeon, and Mike and Venus take the last path. Koya expresses anger at Leo not choosing to have her go with him, and offers to disembowel Don for blinding Bludgeon. Don reiterates that he already apologized for it, as it wasn't intentional, and Bludgeon has already forgiven him for it. Mike uses this time to get to know their new "sister", and Bludgeon finds Mushroom's dropped fukiya. Meanwhile, Leo's team runs into the Night Terrors.
The Terrors begin psychically assaulting the group, beginning with Leo's team, attempting to scare them with some of their worst fears. Leo is met with nightmarish versions of his family and he is ridiculed for his leadership. Zanna and Zink are shown Old Hob, calling out their love and loyalty for him even in his neglect of them. Angel is mocked for her reliance of her armor as it and her body twist and contort.
Don is tormented with the knowledge of Armaggon's arrival and his reluctance to tell the others about his role in all the oncoming destruction. Koya is faced with the idea that the fierce warrior facade she puts on is to hide how soft and weak she really is and that nobody will actually connect and care with her. A grotesque version of Bludgeon mocks him for being nothing but a violent animal.
Mike is told that he cannot be part of a community and still be part of his family, and he begins panicking about the "radiant gravity" that Kitsune told them about that would only lead to their very presence altering the destinies of others in their vicinity. Venus begins to transform grotesquely as she is mocked for being an "unnatural" nobody with no identity. Venus breaks through the monstrous form and uses her Dragon scale magic to break through the illusion and cast it on Mikey as well, snapping him out of it, too. They continue down their path and come across a drape, where they can hear Barlow on the other side. They pull it back and find their friends subjugated by the Night Terrors and Dirtchuck, the hideous fusion of Dirtbag and Groundchuck. Leatherhead arrives, too, and begs for help before his Dragon scale blasts Leo. Leo is woken up by this, but then Leatherhead begins attacking. Mike, Leo, and Venus fight him off until Barlow sees Venus and sends Dirtchuck after them while he grabs Mushroom and the remainder of his Dragon scales and flees. Venus chases after him, leaving Leo and Mike alone against Leatherhead and Dirtchuck.
Leo slashes Dirtchuck's scale, which begins oozing red substance. He tells Mikey that it is a weak point for their opponents and rams his katana through the scale and out Dirtchuck's back, seemingly finally killing them. They then turn their attention to Leatherhead.
Venus corners Barlow in the sewers and he blasts her with an energy beam from the mouth. As she scrambles to recover, she realizes what was "off" about Barlow that she had sensed; although he still retains some traits of his mutant self, he begins to transform to regain some of his human self.
