Some TMNT stuff really isn't for little kids. |
The continuation of Sophie Campbell's epic run! With the Armageddon Game over, new groups compete to fill NYC's power vacuum from new ninja clans to the police, and even old threats like Dr. Barlow. After the Armageddon Game, the Hamato brothers are so divided, they can't even agree on what the biggest threat is. With the city vulnerable, it may have to look elsewhere for help as the TMNT might not even be able to help themselves, let alone New York.

Synopsis[]
Monty and Farrillo interrogate Raphael over the death of the cat woman who he had found. Raph tries to appeal to Monty as he was technically his boss for a while. Farrillo is very skeptical because of his insistance that he is a ninja and was never human, but a regular turtle pre-mutation, and that his last name is Hamato, which is not on record anywhere. Monty does corroborate his ninja and ex-constable status at least, and says they should probably wait for the chief to arrive, but she says she's already there and the interrogation is over.
Kara Lewis, freshly made chief of the precinct, tells Farrillo to uncuff him, but Raph had already done it, choosing to remain and "play nice". Kara tells Raph to sit tight and let her try to sweep it all under thr rug. Raph thinks he gets only one phone call, but Kara says that's only on TV and tells him to make as many as he needs. Raph calls Jennika to bail him out, interrupting her movie date with Sheena, but she goes down and posts bail for her "little brother". Jennika shows up all chummy with Farrillo and Maureen Lin and Kara releases Raph once she pays.
Raph notes how Jenny was acting with the cops, thinking them actually friendly, but she had been locked up there so many times that it was like another home to her, even going as so far to say Farrillo is like her "jerk uncle" at that point. She says even though she's not hiding who she is now, she pretends that she was changed by the mutagen bomb instead of a blood transfusion to make things simpler. She teases Raph about his first lock-up, and Raph gets snippy with her since he says things still feel wrong even after everything they'd just gone through. Jenny relents and agreess, but Raph shoots back a little tease at her seriousness.
Raph turns his attention to trying to figure out who's been killing mutants. He says that when he found the woman earlier, she was covered in large claw marks but he didn't see anything, just heard some creepy voices. Jenny asks if they should call the others before investigating, but Raph says they can handle it.
Leonardo shows Bob around the Church basement lair. He tries to have him meet Donatello, but he's busy trying to get Mona Lisa to help him wrap his head around the notes he stole from his future self. She has a hard time making sense of them, herself, as she says that whereever he got them from, they were written by "an absolute genius, a total whacko, or both". She also tells him that the math indicates that the gofu he and the others made were technically a different form of mutagen, at least in terms of physical state (such as ice/water/steam as different states). Don's mind is blown since to his knowledge the mutagen was completely synthetic....
Back in the rest of the Lair, Michelangelo greets Bob, being his regular hammy outgoing self, when he suddenly gets a call from Seri, out in Los Angeles with Sally Pride and Pete as part of their global tour. She says that she wishes he were there so they could go swimming. Mike says he can't just go out away from his family since they "need" him, but he thinks that they're all actually busy with their own things, and doubts he'd be missed anyway.
Jenny finds some blood leading to a meat locker. They follow the trail to find the weasels gnawing on some meat and the food they'd pilfered from a vending machine. Raph and Jenny are glad to see them, but Zink suddenly says "Little bads here. Red ones." and attacks them with her sword. The other two join in and Raph and Jenny are forced to fight them off. After Zanna smacks Jenny in the leg with her flail, she suddenly stops cold and runs away, as two glowing eyes hover over Jen in the dark.
Leatherhead, now with a giant glowing red skull in his abdomen and red electricity eminating from it and his eyes, clobbers Jenny and flings her. He continues attacking her and chews on the same leg Zanna hit, before Raph pulls her away. Mushroom apologizes for attacking, saying they just wanted to be Claw Ninja, but Raph says they just have to get out of there. Leatherhead suddenly is struck with pain and he stops glowing, not wanting to attack the children. Mushroom introduces herself to Leatherhead, who seems receptive until this eyes and the skull start glowing again, and he grabs her before running off.
Out in the street, Mike, Leo, Bob, and Carmen run patrol, srescuing a mutant woman's purse from some human thugs. Leo notes that despite this being the best patrol they've had in weeks, Mike seems out of it. Mike, although the one deep in though, warns Leo just as he collides with a fleeing Raph. He asks if he saw Leatherhead or the Weasels run through, but they didn't. Carmen bandages Jenny up and Leo and Raph argue about chosing to go "on patrol" without collaborating with the other. Leo realizes Raph is right and goes to apologize, but Raph just wants to get Jenny fixed up so they can make a plan.
In the sewer, Leatherhead apologizes to Mushroom for kidnapping her and says that he isn't fully in control of himself. As his eyes and the skull glow again, someone offers Leatherhead some tea. Venus suddenly startles awake, having dreamed of Leatherhead's escape and noting how similar the energy she felt in this dream was. As she makes her realization of who the energy reminds her of, Leatherhead approaches his host, who is accompanied by two rats with similar glowing eyes and skulls, and it is....
Notes and trivia[]
- Mikey asks if Krang was still in Leatherhead, despite him being a key player in the battle against Krang (who was in Metalhead at the time) that ended in the Utrom's death.
