Summary[]
In the Batcave Lair, the Turtles and Batman face off against Earth Prime Raphael. Batman tells EP Raphael that he is going to pay for breaking into their home. EP Raphael replies that he needs some exercise after all the dimension hopping.
As the group attacks EP Raphael, Robin (aka Mikey) points out that this appears to be Raph, a weird non-clothed Raph. Red Robin (aka Don) says they can’t let him escape, to which Splinter states that he doesn’t believe EP Raphael wants to escape. As EP Raphael proceeds to give the Turtles a whipping, he chuckles and says that good old Master Splinter is as sharp in any universe. Then he tells the Turtles not to sweat getting beat because he’s been at this longer than they have. He also says that with five of them against him, they should be whupping him all over the place.
He dodges every blow Batman attempts to land on him. Batman demands to know who he is, and EP Raphael replies that he’s the original package, Raphael number one. He says that they are confused because they don’t know who they are; who they are meant to be. EP Raphael then proceeds to tell them the origin story.
Batman exclaims that this is a lie, that he knows their history. That his father bought him four turtles and as they cut through an alleyway, his parents were killed. He says that Master Splinter found all of them and raised them together as a family, training them all together.
EP Raphael tells Batman that is not his story, but he’ll get to that. He tosses a device to Donatello and tells him to plug that into one of the computer screens. Don comments to Red Hood (aka Raphael) that EP Raphael does sound like him and Raph says he doesn’t like it. Nightwing (aka Leonardo) says he doesn’t like it because everything EP Raphael has said rings true, that they all feel this deep down.
EP Raphael tells them that it was an ordinary night in the city and he’d been out getting some air due to having a fight with EP Leonardo. He noticed the Purple Dragons moving in on Foot Clan territory and that innocent people were getting hurt. Deciding that they needed to feel a little pain, EP Raphael leaps down to the street, but at first didn’t notice the sky turning red or the lightning ripping across the sky. Then this spaceship appeared; bigger than the city and crackling with that same red lightning.
That’s when the Purple Dragons surrounded him and attacked, then everything went black. EP Raphael asks if Donnie has that thing plugged in and tells him to turn it on. When Don does this, it displays something that EP Raphael managed to record – a large piece of machinery called the Crisis Tower in the Technodrome. The four EP Turtles are trapped. EP Raphael tells EP Donatello he’s going to smash that robot. EP Donatello asks if he’s all right and EP Raphael says yeah, he’s just got a headache.
A gigantic exo-suit (the Anti-Monitor) containing Krang gloats that he’s finally found them, finally located the great progenitors. He explains that concepts of multiverse; of dozens of worlds similar to, but different from their own. They were the first, the progenitor Earth from which all others followed. That the fact that he’s never faced them, never beaten them, explains all of his previous failures.
His ambitious plans to reign supreme requires two multiverses, two progenitor Earths. He then turns to a trapped Batman and asks if he isn’t right? The trapped progenitor Batman states that he doesn’t know what or who Krang is, but he’s going to stop him.
Batman turns from the playback and expresses surprise that it’s another him. EP Raphael says he told him he was getting to the story. Back to the recording – Krang says that now he wields two progenitor worlds and can create a combined multiverse of his own design. He then orders that the crisis tower be activated to begin merging the worlds.
The progenitor Turtles and Batman shout as the process begins. Batman manages to free himself and then the Turtles. Batman immediately goes to a part of the ship and takes out a device he says will allow them to travel between dimensions. They have to get into the new multiverse Krang’s creating and break it back open from the inside.
The alarm sounds that the prisoners have escaped and they are quickly surrounded. Batman tells the Turtles to run, that he can handle the enemy, but EP Leonardo says there are too many and he’ll be killed. EP Leonardo tells Donnie to take the device since he’s the smartest, but EP Donatello is knocked down and loses the device. It lands at EP Raphael’s feet and EP Leonardo yells that it’s up to him.
That is how EP Raphael wound up where he is. He tells the group that he and his brothers have never faced the Krang before, but that they have – and beaten him time and again. EP Raphael says that he’s been all over two multiverses trying to find them and this is the world Krang came from, where his multiversal weapons came from. He merged their histories so that they cant resist him because they are not their pure selves.
Batman asks how they are supposed to do what he’s asking. EP Raphael says he doesn’t know; he’s not the clever one, he’s the one who hits things until they relent. In his travels he’s learned how these worlds are meant to be and they have to set things right and they have to do it quick. He says that Krang has been hunting him for weeks and that by now, he knows he’s here and there’s no telling who he’ll turn to next.
Cut to the Laughing Man. He turns at the sound of a voice telling him that he knows something is wrong in this world, something that threatens all the power he’s gathered. Laughing Man sees a huge image of Krang speaking to him. Krang states that he’s the one who’s going to give him everything he needs to win.
