Synopsis[]
In the barn at the O'Neil Farm in North Hampton, Donatello has completed work on a new gadget and tells Michelangelo to get ready to pull the power switch. Suddenly Don shouts for his brother to freeze and when Mikey asks what is wrong, Don says that the calculations were wrong. If they’d gone active they could have blown the roof off.
Mikey ponders this and says that he thought Dr. Cluckingsworth did the math. Since she never makes mistakes, Mikey considers this a mystery that he must investigate. Out in the yard they see Cluckingsworth dejectedly staring at a pile of chicken feed. Mikey says she looks bummed out, but Don quiets him because he’s afraid her confidence will be undermined even more. Don asks Cluckingsworth if she’d like to do some math because he knows she loves math.
Rather than looking at the calculator Don holds out to her, the chicken is looking across the yard. Mikey quickly solves the mystery by looking in that direction too. Dr. Cluckingsworth is staring at a large red rooster. Mikey says that Dr. C has feelings for Dudley Cock-a-doodle-dooright. He tells Don he knows exactly what to do to get Cluckingsworth back to her old self.
Mikey addresses Cluckingsworth and asks what it is about the rooster that grabs her. She clucks and he agrees with her that Dudley’s kind of fancy looking, but says she can be fancy too. Mikey picks her up and takes her into the house in order to doll her up.
A short time later, April enters the living room and stops in shock. Mikey is in the process of painting Cluckingsworth’s nails – and using April’s makeup kit for his project. When April asks what he’s doing, Mikey explains the love dilemma and that he’s building Cluckingsworth’s confidence with a makeover. He’s placed a pink bonnet on the chicken’s head and wants to know if that’s too much. April sits on the couch next to them and removes the bonnet, telling Mikey that all of the stuff he’s done to Cluckingsworth is too much. She suggests that he simply arrange for the two fowl to have a meal together. Mikey snaps his fingers and with a wide smile says he knows exactly what to do.
Back in the yard, Mikey has poured out a pile of chicken feed and placed a sign next to it reading “reserved for Dr. Cluckingsworth MD”. When Dudley shows up, Mikey sets Cluckingsworth down and sends her towards him. The pair of chickens meet at the seed and begin to communicate, but while Dr. Cluckingsworth speaks in esoteric formulas, Dudley’s mind is all about food, mainly corn on the cob. Finally Cluckingsworth walks away from him, much to Mikey’s puzzlement.
Later, Mikey and April enter the barn to see Don and Cluckingsworth working together. Don says he doesn’t know what Mikey did, but it worked because Cluckingsworth is calculating equations faster than ever. Mikey and April walk back to the yard together. Mikey says he doesn’t understand how the chicken was so fired up one minute, and then walked away from the rooster the next.
April tells him that sometimes these things just weren’t meant to happen. Mikey notices that now the rooster looks sad, but April says that there are plenty of other chickens out there. Excited, Mikey picks up Dudley and tells the rooster he’s going to help him find the right gal and fix up his broken heart. April just sighs as Mikey suggests the rooster wear a motorcycle jacket.
