It is late at night in New York City, but April O'Neil, the intrepid reporter, is wide awake. She is perched atop a building with her mini-camera, waiting for a chance to interview Casey Jones. The mad vigilante has been seen in the area, and she hopes he comes back again. April suddenly spots him on the street below. Quickly climbing down a fire escape, April calls out to the man, saying she’s finally caught him.

When she reaches the street though, a voice calls out that’s she’s the one who has been caught. April turns and sees Krang’s face on the monitors of four large robots. They quickly surround her and Krang tells her not to freak out because she can’t escape. The robots, he explains, are programmed to capture her. There is a loud buzz and a force field surrounds them, which Krang says makes her prison impenetrable.

Meanwhile, not far away, Casey Jones hears April’s cry for help. He grabs his baseball bat and runs towards the sound, spotting April and recognizing her as a friend of the Turtles. April sees him and yells for him to get her out. Casey tells her to hold on and swings his bat at one of the robots. Unfortunately, he receives a very big shock for his efforts. Krang laughs and says that it takes more than that to affect his Tecno-Catturatori. Realizing this is a problem he can’t handle alone, Casey races off and calls out that he’s going to get help.

April tells Krang to say goodbye to his little robots because Casey is bringing back the Ninja Turtles. Krang replies that’s what he hoped, which surprises April. He says that she still doesn’t understand that this is a trap and she is the bait. Each of the four robots was created specifically to eliminate one of those shell-wearing fools. Laughing, Krang says this will be their last rescue. April thinks to herself that now she hopes Casey Jones can’t find the boys.

However, he does find them on a nearby street. They have been out on patrol, but it’s been quiet. Then Raffaello spots Casey, who yells that he needs to talk to them. Michelangelo says that they meet again, calling him a weirdo, and asks if he still thinks they are monstrous aliens. Casey replies no, but not to fool himself into thinking that he’s cute! He adds that they’ll talk about that another time, right now their journalist friend is in trouble. The Turtles quickly follow him to where April is being held captive. When she sees them, she calls out a warning not to get close because it’s a trap. Krang tells them it’s too late as he presses a button on his controls and activates the “custom automaton”.

Raffaello notes that the energy shield has dropped, while Casey calls out that the robots are splitting up. He runs over to April, who is now free. The robots, each with the letter of their chosen Turtle painted on their chassis, face off with their programmed target. A magnet on the “L” Tecno-Catturatori pulls Leonardo’s swords from his hands. When Leonardo exclaims that it’s not fair, Krang tells him of course not. Before the robot can do anything else, Casey Jones uses an ice hockey stick to destroy its head. Telling the robot that without the force field it isn’t so tough, he goes to town smashing the thing to bits. Leonardo thanks him for the help and that they need to help the others.

The “D” Tecno-Catturatori sprays fire at Donatello’s and the Turtle swears that his next staff will be fireproof. Leonardo races between the two and slices the cable on the flame thrower, then he and Casey get to work pounding that robot into dust. Donatello says that each of them should attack the robot intended for another. Soon the robots are in ruins and Leonardo comments on the abundance of spare parts. April says that justice has triumphed over evil and Donatello tells Krang that he hopes he’s understood the lesson. The one remaining monitor displays Krang, who groans and says to spare him the moralizing.

April congratulates the guys and says that the robots were specifically designed to annihilate them. Raffaello tells her that they were too single-mindedly programmed which is why they weren’t able to react to an unexpected event – like Casey. Michelangelo says that it’s true and tells Casey they wouldn’t have made it without his help. Splinter suddenly appears on the scene and says he would like to thank those who helped his students out of this mess. Leonardo exclaims in surprise at seeing him, and Splinter explains that they were late, so he came to see what was happening. Leonardo then starts to introduce him to Casey, but discovers that the man is running away. Casey shouts that he can handle giant Turtles, but a monstrous rat in a dressing gown is really too much. Splinter asks if he said something wrong, but Leonardo tells him that it’s Casey who is the one with something wrong.
