The Cheapskates were hi-tech motorized skateboards built by Donatello, particularly to get to places a lot quicker that the Turtle Van and was primarily used as sewer transport mainly during the second and third seasons.
Trivia[]
- The term "cheapskate" was coined by Donatello due to the fact that they virtually cost nothing to build.
- Unlike the toy version, the animated Cheapskates do not have flags or a control stick.
- Ironically, Bart Simpson, who was later featured on a nuclear mutant antidote cup in the 1991 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II:Secret of the Ooze, began skateboarding, and also using Michelangelo's catchphrase "Cowabunga," on the Tracey Ullman Show in February 1988, shortly before the debut of Donatello's Cheapskates. He has also skateboarded in The Simpsons opening since 1990, the same year the Turtles decided to quit using the Cheapskates so much on the CBS animated series.
