Air-traffic reporter for Channel 6, Vernon Fenwick sees the traffic jam caused by the mobilization of the Earth Protection Force into Mutant Town. He comments that in his experience, the military doesn't move in such a fashion unless there's "serious business". Before he can properly finish his thought and sentence, he is alerted by his chopper pilot only seconds before the copter is destroyed by an Utrom attack ship. Vernon and his pilot are the first casualties of Ch'rell's all-out assault on New York City. The Armageddon Game issue 5
During the Turtles' trial, April O'Neil brings forth evidence of District Attorney Hieronymus Hale's misdeeds, including murder. A crowd of citizens, there to support the Turtles, begin shouting for Hale's arrest and the release of the Turtles. On Hale's orders, the Foot Patrol start beating the people. April helps the Turtles get free of their handcuffs and they quickly enter the fight, which spills outside to the courthouse steps. Hale shouts for the Foot Patrol to kill everyone, but the patrolmen have had enough. They tell him to do it himself and slam a mace into his hands before leaving him.
As Hale stands on the steps yelling that they can’t leave him and that Karai will hear about this, Channel 6 news is broadcasting every word. Hale shouts that they are the Foot Clan and were told to serve him. A reporter tells the audience that they heard it live. He then pushes the microphone towards Hale as he reports that the D.A. has confessed to working with an apparent criminal organization, the Foot Clan. Hale tries to claim he didn’t say that, and then in anger lifts his mace towards the reporter. Before he can strike, he is bashed in the face with an ice hockey stick. The Verdict Is In
