Although the Turtles were successful in rescuing Krang, the Shredder still blew up the building. Fortunately, [[Splinter]] was able to free the hostages before the building exploded. Channel 6 (Also known as Channel Six News) is the TV station in New York City for which April O'Neil works as a news reporter in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comics, various video games and Turtles Forever. It also appears in, the 2003 TV series, the IDW series, and the 2012 TV series. The news studio is located in a building with a big 6 on it.
Mirage Comics
While there is no Channel 6 in the Mirage comics, issues 6 and issue 7 do have Jim McNaughton reporting for "News Center 6 Eyewitness News" which could very well be the inspiration for "Channel 6".
1987 TV series

The newsvans, with the red classical 6 on it, were white during season 1. However, during later seasons, their color had changed to blue.

2003 TV series
In the 2003 TMNT episode Secret Origins, Part 3, April O'Neil (complete with yellow jumpsuit) pretends to be from "Channel 9", then says "Channel 6" when the fake nine on her costume turns upside-down. Tammy Tamlin reports for Channel 6 in TMNT: Back to the Sewer.
Turtles Forever
The Channel 6 building also made a cameo appearance in Turtles Forever.
