Cassandra "Casey" Jones was a member of the Foot Clan who was referred to only by the title of Foot Recruit. She was a recurring adversary of the Mad Dogs.

Physical appearance

Cassey is a slender, fair-skinned teenager with black eyes and black hair styled in a buzz cut. She also sport red eyeliner and black lipstick for makeup.

Her attire consists of a sleeveless, ninja-styled black jumpsuit with a red sash around her waist and red wraps around her neck, calves and arms - thus, resembling a high collar on her jumpsuit, fingerless gloves and ninja-like boots. She often wore a red ninja-like face mask during Foot Clan missions, and she also accessorizes with two red hoop-piercings on her left ear.

Personality

Casey is intensely energetic, shown in her frantic speech pattern and tendency to shout. She is a quick-thinker and tends to take herself seriously (though she has the regular playful moment). She is fiercely loyal to the Foot Clan and always wants to prove her worth to them in any way she can, though she seems to most enthused about proving her battle prowess. However, despite her persistently combative nature, she never engages in a fight without the approval of either Foot Lieutenant or Foot Brute, and is a devout follower of the Foot's laws and traditions.

Casey seems to feel her emotions greatly as after she learns that she failed her test in "Hot Soup: The Game", she vehemently vows to improve herself to retake it in her disappointment. She has displayed an irascible side as when a train car's gravity is deactivated in "Insane in the Mama Train", she quickly becomes angry. In "Many Unhappy Returns", she cries out in dismay when she discovers that she missed the reawakening the Shredder by the Foot, not even trying to temper her alarm.

Despite this, Casey can be influenced relatively easily by those she regards as superior to her in some manner, such as when she listens to Baron Draxum throughout "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will" or Splinter, who is Battle Nexus legend and actor Lou Jitsu, who is able to pacify her and even give her a heart-to-heart in "Always Be Brownies".

Casey is quite ambitious as following the Shredder's return, she longs to take over the world and prove her loyalty to the Foot. However, after meeting Splinter, she begins to question her destiny and place in the Foot. She remains conscious of how others perceive and treat her as Casey regularly feels underutilized in her work and taken for granted by her allies who don't seem to share the same faith she has in herself despite her admiration for them.

History

Casey debuted in "Hot Soup: The Game". She was ordered by Foot Lieutenant to retrieve a Lou Jitsu artifact as her final test to become a fully recognized Foot Soldier. After infiltrating the Montes Auction House after its business hours, Casey encountered Michelangelo and discovered that he was also there to acquire Lou Jitsu merchandise, namely Hot Soup: The Game. In turn, she attempted to kill Mikey and steal the game, but then learned that the game was not what the Foot was after, causing her mission to end in failure and she teleported elsewhere with Foot Lieutenant.

Casey reappeared in "Operation: Normal" while on a mission with Foot Brute to steal parts of the Kuroi Yōroi from Sunita which she unknowingly wore as her boots. Her and Foot Brute's efforts to steal from Sunita throughout New York were continuously intervened by Donatello and Leonardo, but they were able to finally obtain them after their final confrontation with the Mad Dogs at the Lazerdome.

In "Sparring Partner", Casey reported a sighting of a rogue Origami Ninja, Franken-Foot, rampaging through the streets of New York to Foot Lieutenant at the Foot Shack, wishing to aid him in his assault on the citizens. She and Foot Lieutenant then followed Franken-Foot to Joe's Bandanas where they encountered the Turtles in the midst of their confrontation with him. Once Casey was ordered to attack Franken-Foot, a skirmish between the Foot and the Turtles broke out after they decided to protect him. However, Casey and Foot Lieutenant were defeated by Franken-Foot after she successfully restrained all of the Turtles.

Casey worked alongside Draxum in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will" as he attempted to rise through the ranks of the Foot and carried out errands together at Coffee Légume as low ranking members. She later traveled with the Foot to a New York botanical garden where she and Draxum were surprised to find the Turtles. Casey, taking Draxum's disdain for waiting to heart, immediately attacked the Turtles and pursued them when they left the building to combat the Foot on the botanical garden's outdoor grounds. However, Casey was prevented from joining the battle by Draxum and he gave her the honor of retrieving a piece of the Kuroi Yōroi. Their partnership came to an end when upon his taking over the Foot, Draxum referred to Casey as his assistant.

Casey was tasked with supervising the Foot Soldiers as they loaded the disassembled Kuroi Yōroi onto Big Mama's train in "Insane in the Mama Train". Later, whilst in the train's gym car with Foot Lieutenant, she fought Mikey and Donnie as they attempted to prevent Draxum and the Foot from transporting the armor to the Shredder's shrine. Casey was teleported by Mikey into the train car that held one of the Guardsmen as he fought Raphael and was left to face Raph on her own after the Guardsman was teleported to a different car. She managed to sabotage Raph's attempt to enter the Kuroi Yōroi's car, but was later abducted and restrained by Raph alongside Foot Lieutenant where the two of them were soon after thrown off Big Mama's train by fellow passenger.

After Splinter and the Mad Dogs' battle against Draxum in "End Game" moved from the Shredder's shrine to a New York baseball stadium, Casey teleported onto the field in "Many Unhappy Returns" with the intention of aiding Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute in reviving the Shredder, but realized that his resurrection had already transpired during her absence. To her shock, Casey was then attacked by Shredder along with Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute. After Shredder suddenly vanished from the field, she teleported alongside her superiors to the Foot Shack.

Casey summoned Julia to her Grandma CJ HQ in "Always Be Brownies" to receive an explanation concerning Julia's girl scout troupe's sudden low brownie sales. She then ordered her to bring April O'Neil and Splinter to her headquarters to be inducted into her business. Once the two were successfully kidnapped, Casey interrogated Splinter, wanting to know what plans he devised to impede her world takeover. However, after Casey realized her goal was going to take longer than she anticipated, she became thoroughly discouraged. Splinter then drew a parallel between her and April, stating that April also struggles to achieve her goals, but that she shouldn't give up like April wouldn't. Casey was reinvigorated by his words, wanting more than ever to attain global dominance and was challenged by April herself after she emerged from an air duct. She eventually released Splinter in exchange for the money April and him made from their cookie sales earlier that day and left. Later, Casey was abducted from her bedroom by a mystic orb while trying to learn Lou Jitsu's J.I.T.S.U. method.

Casey was transported inside the mystic orb used by Big Mama for her Battle Nexus Wizbang in "Battle Nexus: New York" to capture the New York City population to use the city as an arena. The calming magic that Casey was under while in the orb was broken after Draxum, who had also been imprisoned in the orb, informed her, Splinter, and April of the situation they were in. She quickly tried to escape and managed to due to Draxum exploiting a fracture in the orb's surface with his mystic vines. Outside of the orb, the Turtles were locked in a confrontation with Big Mama and her Battle Nexus champion Shadow Fiend to obtain the orb and Casey, Draxum, April, and Splinter joined the fight. During the fight, Casey struck Shadow Fiend with April's mystic baseball bat and it was then she realized that Shadow Fiend was actually the Shredder in disguise. She deduced that Big Mama was using the mystic ring she wore to control him and met everyone at the top floor of the Grand Nexus Hotel once the battle moved there. After the Shredder had been forced out of the hotel by Splinter and the Mad Dogs via an attack, Casey donned Big Mama's ring before anyone could intervene and commanded the Shredder, who had returned to the hotel, to kill everyone else in the room. Draxum and the Mad Dogs escaped through Leo's mystic portal and Splinter offered Big Mama to do the same, but the Shredder prevented her from entering it. Furious with Big Mama's treatment of the Shredder, Casey then ordered him to destroy her hotel and traveled back to the Foot Shack with him once it collapsed.

Casey reunited Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute with the Shredder in "Finale Part 1: E-Turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and with his autonomy suppressed because of the mystic collar he wore, Casey decided to remove it. However, her attempts were futile and the Shredder freed himself of the collar once he regained his full power with the removal of Hamato Karai from the Twilight Realm.

Casey joined the Shredder, along with Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute, in his quest to kill Karai who was located at Splinter and the Turtles' lair in "Finale Part 2: Shreddy or Not". Casey engaged in a fight with Splinter who expressed his desire for her to leave the Foot to which Casey adamantly refused, but she was ultimately restrained by Draxum.

In "Finale Part 3: Anatawa Hitorijanai", Casey traveled with the Shredder and her fellow Foot Clan to Draxum's laboratory to obtain the Empyrean he claimed to own. However, Draxum revealed that he was lying and created a golem to attack the Shredder and the Foot who the Shredder easily overcame. When the fragments of the laboratory's crumbled ceiling were falling due to the Shredder's attack, Casey was saved from being crushed beneath it by Splinter.

Casey attempted to prompt the Shredder to help Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute in "Finale Part 4: Rise" after they were buried beneath the rubble of Draxum's laboratory, but to no avail. Instead the Shredder promoted Casey to Foot Clan general in their stead and ordered her to leave them be, an order she obeyed, but not without considerable hesitation, Once her and the Shredder arrived at the Crying Titan, he instructed her to create the ritual to extract Splinter's Hamato energy. Casey struggled with her devotion to the Shredder and her reluctance to kill Splinter, but eventually finished drawing the ritual. When the Mad Dogs appeared to confront the Shredder, Casey guarded Splinter from them, but when the Shredder returned from the battle to finally consume Splinter's energy, Casey stopped him, realizing she couldn't bear to see Splinter dead despite her very little history with him. She revealed her identity as Cassandra "Casey" Jones and freed Splinter's essence from one of his binds. She was saved from enduring the Shredder's wrath by Splinter striking him before he had to chance to attack her. Casey then helped Draxum, Splinter, and the Mad Dogs destroy the Kuroi Yōroi in a final fight and afterwards returned to New York with them.

In Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, Casey was shown fighting off Krang monsters with the Brownie Clan while wearing a goaltender mask.

• Ninjutsu: Casey has been training in the art of ninjutsu for many years and her skill in applying it in combat is great due to her discipline and has been described as "very talented".
  • Stealth: Casey's ability to move through areas quietly and utilize areas in her environment to conceal her presence from opponents allows her to traverse areas unnoticed.
  • Speed: Casey is remarkably fast, capable of moving in bursts of speed faster than the eye can follow as shown in "Sparring Partner".
  • Agility: Casey has been shown to be quite agile, able to simultaneously evade the swinging weight of Mikey's kusari-fundō multiple times and Donnie's twirling bō in "Insane in the Mama Train".
  • Enhanced strength: Casey possesses an exceptional degree of strength, to the extent that she can crush a medium-sized stone block to powder with a single hand, smash a large hole through a concrete wall, and easily break a broom handle into precise fragments with her bare hands.

She rose in status after "Battle Nexus: New York" as a result of retrieving the Shredder from Big Mama's servitude where Foot Brute had failed. She replaced both Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute as the Shredder's Foot Clan general (by virtue of being the only remaining active Foot Clan member) after the Shredder ordered that Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute be abandoned after they were injured by the collapse of the roof at Draxum's laboratory. Though Casey obeyed the Shredder, she only did so reluctantly and ultimately never betrayed Foot Brute, showing concern for him trapped under rubble even as the Shredder ordered her to desert him.

  • Julia: Julia is one of Casey's employees who works as the leader of the Grandma CJ girl scout troupe. Her enthusiasm for violence mirrors Casey's own and she seems to trust Julia's skills.

• The Mad Dogs: The Mad Dogs were Casey's enemies for most of the series as they tried to thwart the Foot Clan's plans. She became their ally during "Rise" and is regarded as a friend of the Mad Dogs and their family as expressed by April in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie.
  • Michelangelo: Mikey was the first Mad Dog that Casey ever faced in "Hot Soup: The Game" and they share the anguish of being forced into stagnancy by the members in their group and not given enough freedom to do what they must to grow. For Mikey, it comes from a place of love and concern. For Casey, it comes from a place of strict social hierarchy.
  • April O'Neil: April was Casey's enemy for most of the series as members of opposing clans. In "Always Be Brownies", Casey was stirred by the way Splinter spoke of April's determination in the face of failure, but was eager to fight her once April appeared to rescue Splinter from his captivity. Casey only became allies with April during "Rise".
  • Donatello: Casey got into multiple fights with Donnie in "Operation: Normal" as he tried to keep her away from April and Sunita. One of her attacks was intercepted by him at the Lazerdome, but Casey managed to gain the upper hand against him until she was defeated by Sunita.
  • Raphael: When Casey realized Raph and his brothers were at the same garden she and her clan were at in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will", she relentlessly attempted to attack him. She became involved in a confrontation with Raph in "Insane in the Mama Train", preventing him from initially accessing the Kuroi Yōroi's train car. However, Casey was later captured by him and placed in a different car.
  • Leonardo: Casey got into multiple fights with Leo in "Operation: Normal" as he tried to keep her away from April and Sunita. Later in "Sparring Partner", Casey fought Leo again when him and his brothers came to Franken-Foot's defense and she was able to restrain him using a roll of fabric.
• Hamato Yoshi / Lou Jitsu / Splinter: Casey was ordered by her Foot Clan superiors in "Hot Soup: The Game" to watch Lou Jitsu movies at a time when none of them even knew if Lou Jitsu was still around, much less that he was a mutant rat who would become their enemy. On this basis, Casey had already come to hold Splinter in esteem, even when they were on opposing sides. In "Always Be Brownies", when Casey had briefly taken Splinter prisoner, and she came to realize that her brownie business would not help the Foot Clan in the ways she had hoped, the two ended up bonding, with Splinter cheering Casey up with a pep talk and telling her a story about April and her lifetime of perseverance, though without mentioning April by name. From then on, even as enemies, Splinter and Casey regarded each other with a degree of partiality. It was later in "Rise", when Casey felt split between her loyalty towards the Shredder and her desire not to harm Splinter, that she finally made a choice to turn against the Shredder and protect Splinter. Very soon after, Casey helped the rest of the Hamato Clan finally destroy the Shredder. No longer bound to the Shredder or the Foot Clan, Casey was finally not just a friend, but also an ally to Splinter and his family.
• Baron Draxum: Casey formed an alliance of sorts with Draxum in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will", joining forces to rise through the ranks of the Foot. However, Draxum subsequently betrayed her so he could gain power. Casey remained enemies with Draxum throughout season 2 until they became allies again during "Rise".

Enemies

• Sunita: Casey followed Sunita around for several days prior to "Operation: Normal" in order to obtain the parts of the Kuroi Yōroi in her possession and in the end, succeeded in stealing her boots from her.
• Franken-Foot: Casey spotted Franken-Foot in "Sparring Partner" and she originally wanted to help him wreak havoc, but once she understood the Turtles wanted him as an ally, she sought to destroy him. However, she was defeated by Franken-Foot, sent spiraling away into the sky from his mystic attack.
• Jocelyn: Despite her being a fellow member of the Foot Clan, Casey does not seem to like Jocelyn, attributing her promotion in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will" not her skill, but to the generous donations of her parents.
• Big Mama: In "Battle Nexus: New York", Casey discovered that the Shadow Fiend was actually a disguised Shredder, whom Big Mama had enslaved with her mystic ring. Furious, Casey not only freed the Shredder from Big Mama, but the two of them also managed to completely demolish the Grand Nexus Hotel in the process.
• Oroku Saki / The Shredder: Casey was loyal to the Shredder for most of the series and eagerly wished to resurrect and serve him, but she began to question her commitment after he abandoned Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute in "Rise" and eventually betrayed the Shredder to save Splinter's life.

Trivia

• Cassandra Jones is the first female incarnation of Casey Jones in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. She remained the only female Casey Jones until the introduction of Casey Marie Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.
• Cassandra is the second female Jones combatant and ninja in the franchise after Shadow Jones in the Mirage continuity. Like Cassandra, Shadow was trained in ninjutsu and matured into a fierce and hotheaded woman. And during Shadow's teen and college years, she was a goth girl who dyed her hair black and cut it short, though not quite as short as Cassandra's hair. However, unlike Cassandra, Shadow did not join the Foot Clan. She was originally poised to join, and they were eager to have her as a member, but she would end up being trained by Raphael instead after he learned from Renet that Shadow's most likely future as a Foot Ninja would see her dying young at the hands of a Foot Mystic.

• As revealed in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will", Casey has been in training with the Foot Clan since she was seven years old.
  • In the same episode, it was also revealed that she applied to multiple clans before becoming part of the Foot Clan, and she was offered acceptance into every one.

• Casey appears to be a fan of sports as seen in her bedroom at the end of "Always Be Brownies".
• Prior to Casey's identity reveal in "Rise", many fans mistook her for an incarnation of Karai before the real Karai of the series debuted.
• It was revealed in October 2020 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Ron Corcillo in the fan interview Turtles Rising that Casey's character was originally "a little bit more like a teacher's pet, kissing up to her bosses kind of character", but the rest of the crew was unsatisfied with that direction, resulting in Casey being reenvisioned as the frenzied character that she is in the series.
• It was stated in December 2020 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Corcillo in a Tweet that, "we didn't even come up with [Casey and Casey Jones being the same character] until around when we were starting to work on season 2." This trivia was revealed in October 2020 in the fan interview Turtles Rising.
