Synopsis[]

Karai and Casey stare into the cell holding the captured Dog Star Clan operative, who is trussed up in chains. Casey is worried that he might go boom, but Karai assures him the self-destruct function of his implants have been disabled. However, they have reactivated his nerve clusters, which she demonstrates by pressing a button on a small remote. The operative shouts in pain as an electrical charge courses through his body. She then turns to hand the remote to Casey who asks if she wants him to make the guy talk. Karai says she wants him to make the guy scream. Casey tells her no, that he is not going to torture him. Karai demands to know if he would defy his leader for an enemy who would kill him without remorse. Crossing his arms, Casey says he can’t stop her from killing these guys because he knows they’d do the same. He tells her she won’t get anything worthwhile from torture. It won’t save lives, it won’t make them scared of her, it will just make her a little more monstrous.

Karai reminds him to remember with whom he speaks. As Karai opens the door to the cell, Casey tells her he does, that she’s the lady that wanted his advice so she wouldn’t make the worst possible decision every time-out. She’s always been kind of scary, he says, but she’s never been off-the-charts irrational and she’s been heading that way for weeks. He lowers his mask and follows her into the cell as she asks if she were truly irrational, would it be wise to point that out?

Delivering a kick to the back of the operative’s head that knocks him face first onto the floor, Karai says that she’s seen the afterlife. She knows it exists and she will send her enemies there with a fear of the Foot Clan. Casey asks if she doesn’t think that’s going too far? Answering no, Karai activates the shock device and zaps the operative with a charge that kills him.

Casey shouts at her about how much she talks about honor, but there’s nothing honorable about killing someone that can’t fight back. In her head, Traveler says he told her Casey Jones was not obedient and urges her to kill him. Karai says to be silent, but Casey grabs her arm and says he’s not going to shut up because she has to listen to him. Traveler says he’s had enough of this insolence and if she won’t kill him, he will. A fiery blast of energy engulfs Karai, lifting her off the ground and surprising Casey. Her pupils are now slits surrounded by the same fiery energy. She looks down at Casey and says that it’s time to die.

Casey goes flying through a wall and crashes into another in a maintenance tunnel. Karai follows him through and smashes him into the floor. As Casey rises, Karai leaps over his head and tells him there is no escape. She takes a swing at him, but he lifts his arm in time to block the blow. He has a sudden revelation and counter punches, striking her hard across the face with his fist. Casey says he knew something was off. He couldn’t block a punch from Kara on his best day, let alone get a hit in. He asks if she put a whammy on herself while playing around with magic and he knew that would come back to bite them.

Standing behind her as Karai kneels on the floor, Casey asks her to tell him how to help her. However, when she turns, her face has been completely transformed into that of the Traveler. She backhands him and then grabs Casey by the throat. As she lifts him, Karai says that there is only one thing he can do… die.
