Which had a lot of horror and science fiction references.
I was talking about some of the elements of the show coming from 1987. Such as: Splinter being Hamato Yoshi, Baxter Stockman's mutation, various characters including Bebop and Rocksteady, Dimension X and the Technodrome, ect.

I want to see one of the failed mutant foot soilder experiments, or kiddnapped scientists that serise has seemed to forgot about.
The design for the mutant car reminded me of something I had seen when I was a kid. Look up Odd Rods. Seems like they were trading cards. The designs and pretty striking. They could have inspired it.
Don't think it's from there I saw it though. I just can't seem to remember where I've seen it before...
EDIT: Woop. NVM. Just read the Trivia section and it was Ed Roth's art.
