Summary[]

April reports on a recent discovery of improperly disposed mutagen, found when an excavation crew began work at a dump site. She interviews Capitano Stearnes, Doodley, and Sullivan, the later of which is the public prosecutor. She comes to the conclusion that the culprit is the Techno Biological Research Institute (T.B.R.I.).

In the lair, Splinter turns off the TV right after April's broadcast, startling his sons who were going to watch cartoons after it. He explains that the canister that held the mutagen that mutated them was labeled with T.B.R.I.

At the evidence holding center for the NYPD, Piede Ninjia assault the guards and make their way in to steal mutagen. At the same time, more Piede Ninjia break into the local city zoo and steal a warthog and a rhinoceros.

Later, a hazmat-suited Shredder breaks open one of the stolen canisters over two of his punk thug minions, Bebop and RockSteady, mutating them into an anthropomorphic warthog and rhino, respectively.

The next day, the two mutants and some ninja show up at Channel 6 to wreck the place. Bebop spots April, and the two of them give chase. April presses a button on an alert beacon Donatello had given her, and just as they capture her, the Tartarughe arrive. They beat up the mutants, causing them to flee, and the ninja, who simply surrender.

Back at the lair, Splinter realizes that he was right, and Horoku Sakj is still alive. April asks who that is, and he explains that he's Shredder, and was his best pupil back in Japan, before his evil and cruelty surfaced and he took over the clan, causing Joshi to flee to America. Splinter tells his students that they must increase their training to contend with the return of the Shredder, and Leo states he's already started by doing "pizza lifts".

Trivia[]

  • In Splinter's flashback in Arrivano le Tartarughe, the mutagen canister clearly reads TCRI, but here, it says TBRI and stands for Techno Biological Research Institute.
