A baseball bat is a piece of sports equipment used to strike balls in the game of baseball. A baseball bat is made of either hardwood or a metal alloy. Most wood bats are made from ash; other woods include maple, hickory, and bamboo. Materials that allow the bat to be of a lighter weight are preferred by baseball players due to the faster swing speed.
