Athena is a human-born mutant armadillo and the rhythm guitarist of the all-mutant band, After the Bomb. She is first introduced talking to her bandmates Sheena and Amy at the end of TMNT #104, standing in front of the Kennel Klub. In the TMNT #105, she plays her instrument along with the rest of the band.

- Athena was named by draegwolf during a live stream hosted by Sophie Campbell, in which she was looking to crowdsource the rest of the band members' names. Another name pitched by draegwolf was Demeter, and it was actually the first name suggested, but Campbell went with Athena.
