In the IDW continuity, Arune is the owner of a small liquor/convenience store near the Second Time Around store. Casey Jones rescued Arune and his store from Link, Malo and Chun, and gave Arune a cricket bat to defend himself in the future.
When Hun brought the Purple Dragons to attack the Casey and John and Elizabeth O'Neil, Arune brought his cricket bat down to defend them, and succeeded in knocking Hun to the ground. Other locals came to help when they saw that Arune was fighting, and eventually turned the tide of the battle. After the fight, Arune was reunited with his wife Priya.
