In the 2003 TV series, Area 51 is one of the Earth Protection Force's bases and is rumored to hold alien beings and technologies. These rumors turn out to be true.
From Area 51, Agent Bishop began his attempts to create a false alien invasion to convince the President to fund his organization, transfer his mind to clone bodies, tried to stop the viral plague that spread throughout New York.
Searching for a cure to the plague that affected their brother Donatello, the Turtles find Area 51 thanks to Leatherhead. In exchange for help in finding a cure, they brought the Heart of Tengu. After the cure is created, Area 51 is prepared to self-destruct as their location is compromised.
