April O'Neil battle cry

"April O'Neil" is a battle cry used by April O'Neil in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She typically yells it in the midst of an attack, or while prepping an attack to psych herself up. Most times, she elongates the 'L' in her first name (i.e., "Aprillllll...") before saying her surname.

History[]

"April O'Neil" was first used in "Mystic Mayhem" when April O'Neil leapt from a platform in Baron Draxum's laboratory onto Mayhem's cage in an attempt to free him.

"April O'Neil" was shouted by April as she tried to convince herself that her hypnotized classmates would heed her words in "Hypno! Part Deux".

In "Shadow of Evil" April said "April O'Neil" as she secretly mounted her bicycle to join Splinter on his Foot Clan infiltration mission against his wishes.

"April O'Neil" was whispered by April after she severed Warren Stone's arm from his body with one of Hypno-Potamus' Razor Rings in "Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree".

In "Cloak and Swaggart", April exclaimed "April O'Neil" as she vowed to retrieve Sunita's cloaking brooch and later again as she struck Meat Sweats with a tray in a collaborative attack with Sunita.

April said "April O'Neil" to herself in "End Game" as she donned her glasses right before she placed her and the Turtles' final blow against Draxum to remove the Jupiter Jim figure from the Kuroi Yōroi helmet by hitting it with a baseball.

In "Many Unhappy Returns", April shouted "April O'Neil" as she used a crane to fling a shipping container at the Shredder.

April exclaimed "April O'Neil" in "Donnie vs. Witch Town" as she prepared to be tossed into battle against the great Morgan by Donatello.

"April O'Neil" was whispered by April in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie during her infiltration of the Eastlaird University laboratory and later again as she ran over Krang monsters and the Foot Krang zombies with a Shell Hog in the lair and as she wielded a wrecking ball against Krang Two.

Trivia[]

  • The structure of the catchphrase is a reference to the "Leeroy Jenkins" meme[1], and the yelling of one's own name when attacking is also similar to Mortal Kombat's Johnny Cage when preforming his flip kick attack.
