The third part starts off with the Turtle Tank, where the Mad Dogs escaped from the Shredder's wrath during the last episode. Leo is furious with Raph for leaving Splinter and Draxum behind. Raph defends himself, saying that the Hamato Clan must live on. He adds that since he is the oldest, he will be the one to come up with the plan to defeat Shredder. Donnie angrily asks how, because they have no weapons, lair, sensei or Hamato Karai. To cheer them up, Todd Capybara takes them to Cuddle Cakes Puppy Rescue in the forest out on Long Island.

At the ruined lair, the Shredder was certain that draining Karai's life force would make him stronger. Foot Lieutenant explains that they need a element called Empyrean to order to drain a Hamato life source. Baron Draxum says that he has some in his old laboratory and offers to bring Shredder to it, much to Splinter's shock.

At the forest, the Mad Dogs agree to try out the Ninpō technique and unlock their power. Since their weapons were destroyed, Todd says that can make the weapons for them. But, he made gardening tools, much to the Mad Dogs' annoyance. Todd says that in the early age of Japan, ninjas would use gardening and farming tools as weapons. This causes a dismayed Raph to slam his head on the table in annoyance.

Meanwhile, April arrives to the abandoned and broken lair. When she hears weak moans, April finds an injured and dying Karai under some rubble. April tries to help her but Karai says that she won't be able to help her family. Karai tells April to teach the Turtles the Hamato Ninpō in her place. April says that she's not a Hamato, but Karai says that she is still a part of their family and slowly dies. April becomes teary eyed, but then Karai's spirit transfers into April's body, changing her clothes and hair change into their Kunoichi form. April hears Karai's voice, telling her to find their family.

The Turtles try and train with their new weapons, but end up making a lovely garden by accident. April returns to the Mad Dogs and explains what has happened. Mikey screams at April's head, thinking that Karai was able to hear him from inside April. But April tells him to stop and let her go. Leo asks if the people are safe in the Mystic orb and April says yes, holding the orb up to show them.

The group perches high atop some trees next to a waterfall. April tells them in order to access their inner power, they have to stay calm and feel connected to one another. However, the Mad Dogs don't know how to do that and start to argue over it. Raph can't focus with all the yelling and finally snaps, saying that there's no time for the bickering. He then starts to cry, saying everything is depending on him as the leader and eldest brother. April reaches out to comfort Raph, and he hears Karai's voice telling him, "Anata wa hitori ja nai." Karai appears in Raph's vision, much to his joy. Raph remembers that Splinter's mother said the same thing to Splinter, and asks what the phrase means. Karai explains that it means, "You are not alone." She explains further that the secret of Hamato Ninpō is that it comes from the bond he shares with past and present members of his family. April jumps in, tells Raph that he must trust his family the way they trust him. She tells Raph to remember the first time he unlocked the power in his mystic tonfā. Raph remembers when Leo fell off of a skyscraper, and Raph unleashed his power to save him.

Raph understands what to do now, then allows himself to fall off the tree and over the waterfall. Leo, Mikey, and Donnie jump to save him, screaming out his name at the top of their lungs. Before Raph hits the ground, a green turtle hand grabs onto Raph, formed from mystical energy. The Turtles unlock their Ninpō warrior forms and save Raph in the process. April and the Mad Dogs celebrate a bit, but Todd reminds them that they need to go save their family.

In the Hidden City, Draxum has led Shredder to his lab. Shredder tells Draxum to fetch the Empyrean to harness the energy from Splinter. Draxum moves towards a panel, talking about the prophesized destruction of the yōkai world. He says that he was convinced it was humanity that was the threat to yōkai, but he realizes now that the threat was Shredder himself. Draxum tries using his Golem to destroy Shredder and free Splinter, but Shredder stops the Golem with ease, destroying the lab in the process.

Meanwhile the Mad Dogs try to come up with a way to find where Shredder had taken Splinter. Donnie suggests they look to someone intelligent, knows a lot about the Hidden City, and loves Splinter dearly. The rest of the group agree they should find Big Mama, much to Donnie's annoyance.

Trivia[]

  • "Anata wa hitori ja nai" 「あなたは一人じゃない」 is Japanese for "you are not alone" (see the associated article for more of its uses in other episodes). But this episode's title spaces the words unusually as "Anatawa Hitorijanai". Although Japanese writing typically lacks spaces between words (i.e., "anatawahitorijanai"), "anata wa hitori ja nai" is actually a five-word phrase.
  • This episode marks the final appearance of Todd.
  • This episode reveals that Draxum used Empyrean as the final ingredient for his ooze.
  • This episode confirms that Hamato Sho and Hamato Atsuko are deceased, something stated by Foot Lieutenant earlier in "End Game".
