Plot[]

April is trying to sell some cookies in front of the Stock & Shop, but she fails to do so as everyone is afraid of her approach. Feeling defeated, the screen shifts to April sitting on the chair in the living room of the lair. Complaining that she can't seem to do anything right. So Splinter decides to show her a video of him as Lou Jitsu giving advice using the J.I.T.S.U. method, April said that she’s in but Splinter needs something to wear and that would be his Randall disguise.

Back outside, Splinter reminded April when selling a cookie, she must sell an idea. April did her best to announce but ended up scaring the humans. Splinter decided to give it a try and reminded the people how his mom used to bake.  Teary eyed to hear his story, they started to buy the cookies while the girl scouts looked jealous. One of them told  Julia that her boss wants to see her.

At their headquarters, Julia told her boss that it wasn’t their fault and said that the hairy teen is selling cookies. Angered, the Recruit told her to bring them to her.

At the park, Splinter is counting the money and said that they nailed it. April confessed that she hasn’t made a sale until the Girl Scouts arrive and capture them.

April was brought into their headquarters where they questioned her that she would join them. April demanded the girls to let her go and said she can easily break out through the duct. The girl mistakes the word duck while Julia tells her that it’s incorrect. While they were distracted, April began to untie herself with a walnut and got herself free. She managed to defeat all the girl scouts and braided all of their hair so they couldn't escape.

Recruit had brought Splinter and demanded that he knows that he’s here to stop her from world takeover. If they sell enough brownies, they will be able to get into any office or Ceo. However, it would last at least ten years much to her sadness. Splinter began to tell the Recruit about a girl who is also a failure and she never gave up and moved forward. Touched, Recruit thanked him and said that things will be different now. Instead, she announced that no one will ever stand in her way. April suddenly crashes through the vent and demands her to let go of Splinter. The recruit then demands April to give her the money if she let’s Splinter go. She gives in and Splinter is released.

April now confessed that all of the money's gone, but still April will never sell a cookie but Splinter told her that she will someday.

Meanwhile, the same shadowy force that took Meat Sweats sneaked into Recruit’s apartment and took her away.

Quotes[]

  • Julia: I hate to beat up an old lady.
  • April: I'm sixteen!
  • Julia: Exactly.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode in any iteration of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television series in which none of the Turtles appear.
  • The episode has several hints that foreshadow Foot Recruit's true identity.
    • The leader of the Brownie Clan is known as "Grandma CJ".
    • Various sports gear and posters are seen in Foot Recruit's bedroom.
  • This episode takes place in-universe sometime during the spring (the months March, April, and May) as said by April.
  • Julia's line, "The only thing you're ramping up to is a meeting with Keats... and Fitzgerald," is likely a reference to poet John Keats and essayist F. Scott Fitzgerald.
  • It was revealed in September 2020 by Rise of the TMNT director and story artist JJ Conway in a Tweet that the original ending of this episode featured the Turtles and shared the same concept as the aired ending. It was cut to center April and Foot Recruit and to make the episode's ending more incisive.[1][2]

Errors[]

  • When Lou Jitsu waves his hand during his "Hello," line, his chest is colored the same blue as his jumpsuit in multiple frames.
  • The right lapel of Lou Jitsu's suit jacket is drawn and colored with a greater width than it was in previous frames when he raises his arm to give a thumbs up.
  • When Splinter mentions his mother kissing his injuries, he and his mother are missing their whiskers. His mother's dress is also missing its polka dot print.
  • During Foot Recruit's line, "Bring them to me," Foot Recruit's piercings are on her right ear instead of her left ear.
