Why would Bebop steal Shredder's helmet?
Was it to sell it on the black market?
Did someone hire him to steal it?
That's why I'm saying there's more to the helmet than we think. They're probably put out some background story for it, after all the episode is called THE LEGEND of the kuro kabuto. And that new Bebop kinda reminds me of Nanosec from Transformers animated, a cocky thug using a high tech suit to steal stuff for others.
Maybe the helmet would be like "the artifacts" in the 2003 series. There is some greater evil on the rise and maybe Bebop stole it for that reason. This version has a lot of 80s references, but if it is truly supposed to represent both series then you would need elements from both series.

I know right! :) they might be mutated by shredder like the idw or the 80s tmnt.
That's what it said on their leaked bios!
Bebop and human Xever look alot alike! Both are skinny African Americans! They even look the same in the face!
Twin brothers?
Twin brothers?
Impossible, don't you think he would've mentiioned that to Raph in the Maze of Doom?
Twin brothers?
No. Xever only told Raphael about his origins in the foot. He said nothing about his family.
Twin brothers?
I don't think they look alike, besides, Xever is brazilian and Bebop is clearly american, he sounds too funky to be a latino.

I was just going to say the Xever wasn't African American. I wasn't sure of his origins, but he definitely had a Latin accent.
