The Turtles really mess this one up. They wanted to destroy the Shedder so badly that they are doing the same thing Shedder is doing, getting revenge.
They chose revenge instead of dealing with the Kraang.
They really shouldn't have done that.

Schroeder is not too powerful for them if it's not hand to hand combat.

also if they kill the leasing with the shredder it takes care of two problems. They don't really have to keep anything to an enemy.

Besides, now that all the Turtles know about who Karai really is, even if she doesn't want to admit it to herself, taking her out would also hurt Splinter and they would never want to hurt Splinter.
